We're seeking an Engineering Manager for our Airborne Systems team. This role offers a remarkable chance for a seasoned engineering leader to significantly impact the growth of our expanding organization through strategic planning, leadership, and effective execution. The Engineering Manager will play a crucial role in directing a multidisciplinary team of electrical, mechanical, project, and systems engineers, focusing on product design, engineering excellence, and the successful delivery of engineering projects.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Airborne Systems Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Airborne Systems VP/GM, driving the department's success with their leadership skills and technical expertise. This candidate will plan, hire, train, and manage engineering resources to maximize the team's capabilities, set performance goals, and foster professional development. He/She will provide technical guidance, shaping the technical strategy and product design while ensuring adherence to engineering best practices and on-time delivery of work products.

This candidate will maintain open communication with company leadership and the engineering team and collaborate with other engineering leaders to uphold high engineering standards across the company. The successful candidate will assume a leadership role in nurturing the growth of the airborne systems business area, which requires a proactive, success-oriented individual eager to take on challenges and drive innovation within the department.

As an Engineering Manager, You’ll
 

  • Act as a success-oriented member of the D29 Leadership Team, reporting directly to the VP/GM
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Department with leadership and technical prowess
  • Support the planning, decision-making, and execution of the department mission
  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary engineering group of electrical, mechanical, project, and system engineers
  • Institute a product design mindset
  • Plan, hire, train, and manage resources to optimize engineering capability
  • Assign and manage work assignments of the engineering staff
  • Set and manage performance goals of individuals and teams
  • Drive the continued professional development of the staff through goal setting and mentoring
  • Act as an employee advocate and an employee challenger
  • Provide technical expertise, guiding the technical strategy, product design, and use of engineering best practices while ensuring on-time delivery of engineering work products
  • Communicate and provide updates and insight to company leadership
  • Communicate company/department information to the engineering team
  • Collaborate with Program Managers to ensure support to and success of programs in meeting technical, schedule and budget requirements  
  • Lead the development and presentation of technical presentations to customers, partners, and suppliers
  • Ensure product designs meet the customer technical requirements
  • Work with other engineering leaders to set and enforce standards across the company
  • Set and enforce high engineering standards and engineering best practices within the department
  • Ensure compliance with quality, CMMI, safety and certification standards
  • Assist with technical and cost proposal development and review as needed
  • Support, communicate, and exemplify the mission, values, and culture of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned by management
What You’ll Bring:
 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or Systems Engineering; or related technical field
  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or Systems Engineering; or related technical field preferred
  • Minimum 8+ years of end-to-end product development with electro-mechanical systems
  • Minimum 3+ years in an engineering leadership role
  • Prior experience with development of avionics products a big plus
  • Strong knowledge in design for manufacturability
  • Strong knowledge of production processes and procedures
  • Program management experience including leadership and/or participation in program reviews such as PDR, CDR, FCA, PCA, as well as system-level testing against environmental, EMC, and performance requirements
  • Financial management experience or willingness to learn revenue/budget forecasting and execution
  • Experience in design and qualification of ruggedized military electronics products to meet MIL-STD-810; -461; -704 requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship is required. Must be willing and able to obtain a Security Clearance or have active Secret Security Clearance.

Pay Range:

$157,000 - $240,000
However, base salary for this position will vary based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
